The best way..
to race..
in the world!
"Group C was the greatest era in sports car racing, and these magnificent and evocative cars have carried my career during the past 25 years. Today, you too have the opportunity to re-live this golden era with Group C Racing"
Derek Bell MBE - Five times Le Mans and triple Daytona 24 hour winner & our Honorary Patron
The 2009 season is now upon us and arrangements are well in hand for the meetings that we will be attending. We are going to The Spa RMU Classic, The Monza Coppa Intereuropa Storica , The Silverstone Classic and The Nurburgring Old Timer, the 4 top historic meetings of the year.
The first meeting at Spa Francorhamps is not to be missed. Spa is the undoubtedly the ultimate circuit with some of the most famous and evocative corners anywhere in the world. Eau Rouge, Pouhon, Blanchimont. Imagine blasting round these in a Jaguar XJR9 or a Mercedes C9. What a trip and with this Club you can.
On to Monza. The high speed circuit in a public park. Only the Italians could get away with it. Tons of atmosphere and great enthusiasm from all the locals but watch out for the Parabolica - it takes no prisoners.
Then on to Silverstone. Bridge corner in a ground effect Group C car is one of the all time major challenges for a driver. These cars generate large amounts of down-force and can carry corner speeds that test the most determined pilot. Of course Silverstone is still one of the fastest circuits in the world and in a Group C car that really is quick.
Finally to the Nurburgring. In period these cars raced on the Nordschleife with the likes of Ickx and Belof hanging it out around the Karussel. These days the F1 circuit is a different animal but is still a thorough test of the skill and commitment for the competitors.
We offer a great range of events to appeal to both members keen to race their cars at the sharp end of the premier historic racing grid, through to others who consider it a privilege to just be in one of these cars and relish the opportunity to actually drive one that they may have watched race in the golden era of sports car racing.
Without exception, all newcomers to Group C are pleasantly surprised at just how fantastic these cars are to drive. It is a condition of racing that all competitors totally respect each other on and off track and appreciate that these cars are treasured possessions. But this does not stop the racing being very exciting.
This is a Club run by enthusiast for enthusiasts. We love the cars. They a big, dramatic, colourful, noisy, very fast and our purpose is to get them out where they belong; alive on a track and spitting flames, not mouldering in museums. Join us. You will enjoy it.
