Group C to Support Le Mans in 2008
Here we come!
The Le Mans 24 Hours Course Director, Daniel Poissenot of the Automobile Club De L’Ouest (ACO) met Group C GTP Chairman David Mercer and Duncan Wiltshire of Motor Racing Legends on Friday July 6th, to announce the invitation of the ACO to the Group C GTP cars to stage the race which will support the Le Mans 24 Hours in 2008.
Monsieur Poissenot explained that his first serious involvement with Le Mans was in 1988, which saw the epic dual between the Silk Cut Jaguars and the Shell-Dunlop works Porsches 962. He had fond memories of Sir John Egan on the podium with tears of joy on his cheeks at the finish.
Motor Racing Legends Chairman, Duncan Wiltshire has been a key figure in the successful outcome of what promises to be a major event at the Le Mans 24 Hours next year.
Group C GTP Chairman, David Mercer commented, “ We are delighted to be given the honour of being the support race for next year’s Le Mans 24 Hours. Many of the cars are returning to their spiritual home and I know that all of the drivers will relish the chance to race on the full Le Mans circuit and drink in the unique atmosphere of Le Mans on 24 Hours race day. I am sure we will have an enormous turn-out of racecars and we’ll look to put on a really superb show in front the huge and enthusiastic crowd.”
